Juan Or at His Paternal Great-Grandma's Birthday Lunch

This blogpost is an outdated post - 10th September 2010.

This was the day the Lok family celebrated Great-Grandma's birthday by having a birthday lunch at Leong Ah Restaurant (Puchong).

At his age of 2 years 4 months old, Juan Or no longer cries when he saw unfamiliar relatives' faces (unlike when he was an infant), but of course he still doesn't like them to touch him ('See no touch' motto!). Also, when he saw his beloved Grandpa and Grandma and also his Second Uncle at the luncheon, Juan Or went into manja (wanting to be pampered) mode. And that also meant some form of 'freedom' for Mommy because Juan Or would want to be carried by them almost all the time (in fact both Juan Or and Juan Juan from My Little Sprouts were competing with each other for Grandpa, Grandma and Second Uncle's attention). This also meant Mommy was able to eat in peace.......hehehehe.

Here's Juan Or sticking to his Grandpa like leech.....

.....and as usual, he would be sucking ice.....

.....and sucking his fingers too!

Here's the Little Sprouts' family together with Grandma (Mommy's mother-in-law), ......

......and Juan Or's uncles and aunty (i.e., brother-in-law and cousins-in-law to Mommy).

Both Grandparents were busy entertaining the Grandchildren's wishes and wants right from the time of waiting for food till the eating process so that Mommy can shake legs and eat.

But when sleepiness finally struck Juan Or, he somehow knew how to look for Mommy! So Mommy had to hold him on the lap while eating. Luckily it was already towards the end of the course, otherwise it was going to be a handful to have to attend to two things at the same time. Luckily too, Papa is a fast-eater, so Papa finished his food well ahead of Mommy and took over sleepy Juan Or. Phew!

See....Juan Or was so blissfully asleep! Who cares about the endless chattering and the clanking of the forks and spoons, bowls, plates and glasses? Sleep means sleep! Mommy captured his sleeping photos from all possible angles (just for keepsakes!).^_^

*Sleep, Baby, Sleep! Sweet dreams, Baby!*

Juan Or slept so comfortable on the best "dunlop pillow" in the world. I love seeing kids sleeping too, that is the most peaceful moment :)

Ice, check!
Pen/pencil and papers, check!

These are the things to keep the little one occupied so that we adults can 'shake legs and talk or eat'. I do that most of the time when I bring my children for food hunt.

It's such a bliss that Juan Or's paternal great grandma is still around to play with her great grandchildren. Btw, she shares the same birthday as my girl :)

Sheoh Yan, I agree with you, for a sleeping child, that's the best 'Dunlop pillow' in the world!

Yvonne, hahaha....distance makes the heart grow fonder. We moved out from the in-laws' house about 6-7 mths ago and I notice the grandparents became fonder of him ever since then.

Hayley, LOL, I was too happy of my sudden new-found 'freedom' so much so I forgot to capture photos of the food the moment the dishes landed on the table! :P

LOL! Juan Or shows alot of improvement recently, I notice he would said 'thank you' spontaneously (without prompting) when we offer him something! You must have contented seeing your boy growing up so well!;)

Have a great day!
p/s: Where's the picture of Ah Po's cake? LOL! Must be pretty handful that time!;p

Alice Law, hahaha....handful is one thing. Another is becos the spot where I'm sitting at the table was not a conducive place for me to get up and get down from the table, otherwise the you-know-who is going to nag me for troubling him to have to shift his chair to make way for my movement. ^_^ That explains why I didn't take any photos of the people at the other table, and that includes Great Grandma. ^_^

Reanaclaire, oh, yes, indeed. It has been so long ago since I last ate in peace when in restaurants (not including the times when I eat during work hours).

I like the sleeping photos! Despite everyone talking away, he is in such deep sleep.

Adrine, LOL! He must be too tired from playing around too much. :-D

He must be very tired! My kids stop sleeping outside... they rather play than sleep! And then sleep in the car later. Hehehe. Anyway, good thing you finally have some peace to eat. :)

Cheeyee, oh, yes, indeed, some peace in eating that I have been longing for a long, long time! :P
