Juan Or the Sir-Lancelot-Wannabe
A Christmas Visit to Juan Or's Maternal Grandparents' Place
We all went in the morning because Juan Or's sleeping and waking hours are more predictable in the morning so that we can minimize the chances of him fretting and crying. When we reached there, Juan Or had already dozed off in the car, so we had to wait in the car till Juan Or woke up. Upon entering the house and seeing his Grandma, Juan Or started crying - everything looked so strange and unfamiliar to him! However, Grandma was well-prepared for Juan Or's turmoil - she quickly offered him soft toys and some kiddy knick-knacks to which Juan Or gladly accepted though still crying! Then, lastly, Grandma gave him an ang pau (red packet containing money) and immediately Juan Or took it in his hands and stopped crying! Then Mommy took Juan Or to face his Grandpa and again Juan Or burst into tears! But when Grandpa gave him an ang pau, Juan Or stopped crying immediately! Hahaha....so looks like Juan Or's liking for money is not coincidental when he picked the RM10 bank note on his 1st Chinese birthday!
Mommy's mum offered Papa and Mommy her home-cooked nasi lemak (rice cooked in dilute coconut milk) for lunch. So while Papa ate, Mommy had to take Juan Or to walk around the porch to minimize his crying and once Papa was done, Mommy ate while Papa entertained Juan Or. Several notable things about Juan Or during the visit:
- Juan Or loves drinking sparkling juice!
- When Juan Or was crying (because of seeing unfamiliar faces), Mommy purposely asked him whether he wanted Mickey Mouse and he answered yes even though he was still in the midst of crying! Then later, Mommy asked whether he wanted to eat nasi lemak, he answered yes (still crying)! Whether he wanted to eat sambal (spicy chilli gravy dish), he answered yes too and still crying!
- Towards the end of the visit, Juan Or saw his Grandma drinking water from a cup, so he pointed at the cup to indicate that he wanted to drink from there too. Grandma was pleasantly surprised to see his Grandson though not familiar with her but insisting on sharing the same cup as her! After Juan Or drank, Grandma continued drinking and again Juan Or pointed at the cup wanting to drink again! So Grandma let him drink again and after that, Juan Or gave his Grandma a cute smile! Oh, that was his first smile to his Grandma and Grandma was again pleasantly surprised! So Juan Or finally did mellow down (within 1+ hours) after all!
When we were about to leave, Mommy's mum gave Mommy some Christmas presents and a stainless steel 40cm Chinese wok for Mommy to start a new home. Thanks, Mum! Mommy will gladly accept the gifts although Mommy has already equipped the new house with tableware and kitchen utensils. Here are some snapshots taken when Mommy took the gifts to the new house for storage:

The Secret Garden at Rooftop, 1 Utama Shopping Centre (New Wing)
Look who's there! It's Papa and Juan Or at the cacti roundabout.
Another side of the cacti roundabout.
"Hey, Juan Or! Don't you run away! Mommy wants to take a picture of you!"
What's going on between Juan Or and Papa? Juan Or was instructing Papa how to pose, perhaps?
Say,"CHEESE!"
Juan Or looked quite reluctant to pose for the camera.

Mommy also captured a video of Juan Or walking along the labyrinth-like garden pathway looking for his Papa:

Mommy Attended the "HP Future is..." Event
This is the HP goodie Mommy received upon confirmation of attendance: netbook bag, a car fragrance hanging ornament, a HP polo shirt (size L), and a colourful HP folder containing assignment instructions and brochures of HP products featured in this event
Upon entering Rootz, Mommy was greeted by this tunnel-like passageway which has mirror wall decorated with electrifyingly-arranged white lights which soon changes into......
......electrifying red!

- What will life be without technology?
Life will be boring, inconvenient and as good as the stone-age days!
- How has technology changed your life?
Technology has allowed things to be done fast and conveniently. Previous internet technology was dialed-up networking which was slow and noisy (Kenny Sia actually mimicked the dial-up noisy dialling tone!), but now is taken over by the broadband, so internet surfers get to surt more things for less time. Technology has also allowed resources from all over the world to be within your finger tips and at your perusal which is especially an important thing for people in education. Technology is also changing the way how people find their romantic partner.
- What feature about the computer would you hope to see in the future?
RedMummy particularly mentioned how she hopes that one day, she doesn't even need to type the computer keyboard in order to blog. The computer can merely read what's in our mind to come out with the sentence that we want to type! Wow, Mommy thinks this idea is awesome - yes, a good breakthrough, yet scary at the same time! And another top blogger, Jojo Struys feels that it's scary for computers to be able to read our thoughts and translate them out in words and sentences and she swears she wouldn't want that to hapen!
- What is another breakthrough innovation in our lives besides computer, handphone and internet?
Aviation, television, camera, GPRS and telescope.
- How long do you spend time on the internet per day?
Answers ranges from as little as 10 hours per day to all the time!
After the top 5 bloggers have answered Will Quah's questions, finally the Q&A session was opened to the floor. Someone from the audience asked,"So many good things have been talked about computers, internet and technology, what about the bad side?" To this question, most of the top 5 bloggers agree that privacy and identity theft is a big problem. RedMummy particularly mentioned about her encounter with an SMS stalker and Cynthia about how her photo and profile appeared in a social networking site that she never registered for in the first place!
Both Mr. Danny Lee and Mr. Low Sin Yip launching the 'Blog-A-Trend" Contest. As time was running out, Will Quah closed the Q&A session, but reminded the audience that should they have some more questions, they can always catch up with the top bloggers later on. Then came the closing speech by Mr. Low Sin Yip, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Director of Microsoft Malaysia and finally, both Mr. Danny Lee and Mr. Low Sin Yip launched the 'Blog-A-Trend' contest. Want to know more about the HP "Blog-A-Trend" contest? The blog link should be send to cheryl.yab@hillandknowlton.com.my latest by 17th January 2010.
Besides this, Will Quah also announced that a live chat session (you will have to log in with your MSN ID to do that) will be held on 16th December 2009 at 9.30pm to 10.30pm for people to come together to discuss about future trends in the online community.
The many models of HP notebooks, netbooks and touch screen desktops on display during the event.
After all the announcements by Will Quah, the party ends with a networking session among bloggers alike and HP personnels. During this time, Mommy saw the top bloggers and other bloggers mingle among themselves and with HP personnels. On a personal note, Mommy must commend HP personnels for being very professional, appproachable and ready to assist you without you asking. Mommy was looking at a particular HP notebook on display and was approached by a HP personnel. It's not like Mommy had to approach a HP personnel to know more about a HP model, instead the HP personnel approached Mommy just at the right time! Mommy also had the chance to have a short chat with Meera the RedMummy because Mommy has a common ground with her - we are mothers and we blog about our children! By the way, during our chat, RedMommy mentioned that she noticed Mommy from the stage. In Mommy's heart, Mommy wondered was is because Mommy looked the most Aunty-like person there? Hehehehe....
Anyway, Mommy had an enjoyable time at the event, the forum was a good avenue for exchange of ideas, thoughts and opinions from people not in the education industry, the cocktail served at Rootz was tasty, the ambience at Rootz was a pleasant first-time experience for Mommy (hey, Mommy is a club virgin!) and even the landscape just outside Rootz was full of lush greenary in the midst of concrete buildings and landmarks, in line with HP's eco-friendly drive. And one more thing - the HP organizer is very thoughtful. When guests left Rootz, each was presented with a free limited edition umbrella to protect from rain , just in case (and perhaps perpetrators!), knowing that most guests probably had to walk quite a distance (in the night) from Lot 10 to their whatever means of transport. Thank you HP for the enjoyable and meaningful experience and freebies!
This is the limited edition HP umbrella given to each guest just before they leave the event.
Thank you to HP for the enjoyable and meaningful experience (and the free goodies too!)
The lush greenary of Rootz's landscape amidst the concrete jungle which is in line with HP's drive for being eco-friendly despite going for technology sophistication.

By the way, Mommy reached home at 10.45pm. Once home, Mommy could see Grandpa rocking Juan Or to sleep. Mommy peered over to see Juan Or. Juan Or was obviously not asleep yet, though he appeared to have settled down already. So Mommy asked Grandpa whether Juan Or had been good the whole night even though Mommy's not around? "Oh, yes" was Grandpa's answer.

11.30am: Juan Or woke up and Grandma took him to the babysitter's house for milk feeding again. Again, Juan Or refused to drink.
12.00pm: Papa went out to buy lunch. Papa bought 'mamak' food - rice with mutton rendang, squid and sting-ray curry. Very spicy and tasty. Meanwhile, Mommy bathed Juan Or.
12.30pm: Mommy started eating the food that Papa bought. Tried giving some white rice (Juan Or loves to eat white rice!) but he refused to eat. So Mommy tried giving some rice stained with the curry gravy (Juan Or loves spicy food!) and again he refused to eat.
1.00pm: Grandpa went out to buy porridge for his lunch. Once back home, Grandpa aliquot a small portion of it for Juan Or, tried feeding him and again he refused to eat! Grandma tried feeding him porridge too, still he refused to eat!
1.30pm: Mommy took out Calci-yum (children's yogurt with 2 times calcium of normal milk) from the refrigerator and offered it to Juan Or. Wah, he finished it within 5 minutes!
2.00pm: Grandpa rocked Juan Or to sleep again.
5.30pm: Juan Or woke up from sleep and Grandma took him to the babysitter's house for milk feed. This time, he gulped down his milk quickly and without fuss! Juan Or returned home and started playing and disturbing people.
7.30pm: Mommy ate dinner. Mommy also gave some white rice for Juan Or to eat. This time, he didn't reject eating, but neither did he eat a lot.
9.00pm: Grandpa took Juan Or to the babysitter's house for another milk feed. Same thing - Juan Or drank everything quickly and without fuss! Later, Papa gave him some cheese bread to which he ate only a little.
10.15pm: Mommy asked Juan Or whether he wanted to eat Calci-yum. Juan Or immediately nodded his head as he answered,"Ai! (Want!)." Same thing, he finished his Calci-yum within just 5 minutes!
10.30pm: Mommy changed Juan Or's diaper, brushed his teeth and finally rocked him to sleep!
End of the day for Juan Or and Mommy!
Juan Or's favourite - Calci-yum!
Ah, here's Calci-yum coming!

It's the Litt Tak Warehouse Sale Again!
Even the stairs is not spared from being used for displaying toys. The toys displayed at the stairs are mostly Power Ranger toys.
This Disney toy for toddlers aged 18 months and above is sold for RM8 only - very cheap! The toy is still in good condition, only thing is it is dusty and the cardboard box doesn't look so nice anymore. Had Juan Or been much younger, Mommy would have buy this toy (this toy is already too childish for Juan Or) .
A set of Toyota miniature cars made of stainless steel with nice finishing, made by Tomy. The price is more expensive....RM40. But this set is not for Juan Or to play. This set is for Mommy's collection to be put into the glass display cabinet. ^ ^
