Recently, when Mommy was fetching Juan Or back from the babysitter's house to our new house, Mommy was stuck in a horrendous traffic-jam. Then, suddenly out of the blues, when Mommy turned behind to glance at Juan Or, Juan Or was already standing at the back seat! Mommy then quickly asked Juan Or to get back into the baby car seat but he refused. So Mommy asked him to at least stand on the floor of the car while holding the front car seat from behind. Instead, much to Mommy's horror, Juan Or wriggled his way out to the front part. Since he was already at the front and still standing, Mommy ordered him to sit down to which he didn't comply. Then when the traffic-jam started to move a bit, Juan Or jerked as a result of the inertia, but Mommy was prepared by blocking with the hand. That was when Juan Or realized he needed to sit down, so he sat down obediently. When the traffic came to a halt shortly after, Mommy quickly strapped the safety belt onto him and instructed him to hold the strap (that runs across the chest) a little so that it wouldn't touch his face so much. And much to Mommy's surprise too, for the rest of the journey home, Juan Or obediently sat still while holding the chest part of the strap and did not at all attempt to wriggle his way out of the safety belt. Juan Or is a big boy already! ^ ^
As soon as we reached home, Mommy checked the safety belt of the baby car seat. Apparently, the safety belt was still intact. Mommy's first thought was,"Huh, Juan Or has already become an escape artist!?"
From that day onwards, Mommy put Juan Or to sit on the adult car seat, stacked two baby pillows to act like a booster seat and strapped him on. Till today, Juan Or did not attempt to wriggle out from the safety belt. Guess Juan Or probably prefers to sit with Mommy (even though the safety belt does touch his face a little) than to be at the baby car seat.
See the two baby pillows Juan Or is sitting on? That's the home-made booster seat!

Wow...can escape on his own. haha It will be better to put Juan Or in front with you (since only 2 of you in the car). At least, he can see u and u can see him clearly.
Juan Or looked so cute during his naps in the car. After reading how you wanted to control Juan Or and at the same time focused on the traffic, I really feel that motherhood is so tough.
Nasib baik you were cool enough and didnt terkejut. maybe the baby seat straps too loose?
How sweet the way Juan Or fell asleep... have a nice day!
mNhL, yes, I find Juan Or prefers sitting in front too and he behaves better too compared to when he was sitting in the baby car seat.
Sheoh Yan, yes, motherhood is tough but I'm getting used to it. Hahaha, btw, my hubby says he won't be able to handle it if Juan Or is alone with him in the car.
:-D
Smallkucing, yes, the baby car seat's strap is loose but not too loose, and Juan Or doesn't like it to be just fitting. Anyway, last time he did not try to wriggle out, so I merely let the strap to be loose, what's more it's the infant car seat type which fits him like a bowl. But I guess he cannot tahan the hotness of sitting in the baby car seat (always see him drenched in sweat!) that's why he asks to be promoted. :-D
Alice Law, have a nice day too!
:-)
hi Alice, he must be really exhausted, the way he slept, he is in dreamland! hahhaa...
oo...it's infant one ah...no wonder. Time to get him proper kids car seat. That one cannot wiggle out and more comfortable to sit. better view too :)
He's so exhausted!
Good that he is willing to put on the safety belt. Good boy. :)
But I heard from my parents, starting this year there is new rule that children (can't remember how old) are not allowed to sit in front with the driver. It's dangerous. So both my kids always sit at the back, with the seat belt fasten.
Reenaclaire and Prince n Princess Mum, I guess when the car moves, it probably feels like the sarong rocking, what's more with the car air-cond blowing on him, so very fast he zzzzz.....
Smallkucing, yes, initially I have plans to buy one toddler car seat, but recently I saw Paranthots got organize one contest, can win baby/toddler car seat, so I submitted my entry already. See-lah, if get to win, then no need to buy anymore. hehehehe
Cheeyee, I made a search at www.thestar.com.my to see whether there's any old news talking about this new ruling, turned out there's no mention of this ruling.
Ya, true, sitting at the back is safer.
