Juan Or's 'Bus' Ride

This is also an outdated post dating back to 17th September 2010, i.e., about one week after Hari Raya.

It was a Friday and both Papa and Mommy took leave from work. We went window shopping at 1 Utama. Since the Hari Raya public holidays were just about a week ago, we could understand why most temporary Hari Raya stalls had already been dismantled at one of the concourse area, thus leaving a very ugly sight in this uppity class mall.


This was how it looked like from the top....

It looked like as if the hurricane had swept through the mall!


Well, never mind about that. That was none of our business after all. So we went on with our window shopping. As usual, Juan Or would be on the lookout for his favourite kiddy rides.

Of particular interest was the bus kiddy ride.

This bus kiddy ride already had a bear-bear 'driver' fixed to its seat. Funnily though, Juan Or asked the bear-bear to move aside to make way for him to do the driving! He even went to as far as 'sitting' on the bear-bear to take over its place!

But of course, what you see in the video was what Mommy asked him to do....well, that's because when he first did that without Mommy's coaxing, Mommy was not ready with the handphone camera. So Mommy had to coax him to talk to the bear-bear again in order to record the episode. ^_^

Within about half an hour later, Juan Or dozed off in the shopping cart. At first, he was sleeping in upright position.....

.....then slowly his body went down.....

.....then up again....

.....and down again!

'Gardening' for Juan Or

This is actually an outdated post dating back to 27th August 2010.

It all started on one fine Friday late afternoon when Mommy was at the wet kitchen. Uh-oh, the kangkung (water convulus) plant had already grown into the house! It crept in through the gap under the kitchen door!

Mommy was startled to see such thing. The plant had grown about 1 meter into the house! Hearing Mommy's startled cry, Papa came to investigate and then offered to pull the plant away, but from the outside.

Because Papa went outside the house, Juan Or had the opportunity too to join in the 'fun'. After Papa pulled away the kangkung, the plant was all Juan Or's to play with.

So this boy had a fun time dragging the long stretch of kangkung to the front and to the back, over and over again, very much like those pull-along toys.

After that, he made a 'tour' round the house compound to check on those kangkungs that seems to have dominated all other veges that Mommy had grown.

And the 'tour' may sometimes require him to go over the drain, with legs wide open! Ooops, be careful not to miss your footing!

If the kangkungs were overgrown, it's time for Juan Or's special trimming!

Well, if necessary, Juan Or would use the baby shovel to do the digging. But what is there for him to dig!? Shouldn't he be digging away the roots of the weeds? Well, for him, digging with the baby shovel is just fun-fun and play-play! ^_^ Leave all the hard gardening job for Mommy to do, ya? :P

Simply Curious or Just Plain Cheeky?

Mommy was just back from work and quickly bought economy rice for dinner, picked up Juan Or from the babysitter's house and then detoured to The Store Sri Petaling to grab some things before heading back home.

As usual, Mommy put Juan Or into the shopping cart and 'parked' him somewhere near the rack that Mommy was browsing and choosing (it was the lingerie section). When Mommy turned the head, this was what Juan Or was up to.....

Then he went on further to......

So Mommy told him,"Eeeee......shame, shame, cannot do like that in public", but he still went on doing, this time even more on purpose and with a cheeky grin some more.

So is he simply curious or just plain cheeky? ^_^

Grandpa vs. The Big Bad Wolf

Can you see anything in common between The Big Bad Wolf and Juan Or's paternal Grandpa?

Well, probably not, at least for us adults. But in Juan Or's eyes, both look ALIKE! Well, maybe it could be the overall longish head, gruff look and dark complexion shared by both of them! ^_^

How does this comparison come about? Well, it all started when Mommy played the "3 Pigs and a Baby" DVD cartoon for Juan Or to watch. This cartoon revolves around a team of big bad wolves trying to get hold of the 3 pigs using an improvised method (yes, no longer the fairy tale method!). The wolves leave a cub at the front of the doorstep of the piggy brother whose house is made of solid brick. At that time, the other piggy brothers already had their houses blown down by the wolves, so they have already moved in to their well-to-do big brother piggy's brick house. So the 3 piggies raised the cub like their own child and soon the cub grew into a teenager whose looks become so much like one of the big bad wolves. So one day, during recess at school, the big bad wolves tried luring the teenager wolf to join their group, but without success. Then the wolves resorted to using a giant fan to blow down the piggy's brick house and that's when the teenager wolf stepped in to defend his piggy dads. Now back to Juan Or, the first time Juan Or set his eyes on the Big Bad Wolf main character, immediately he called out "Ah Kong (Grandpa)" and when Mommy specifically asked him to point which character did he refer to as "Ah Kong", he pointed at the Big Bad Wolf! ^_^

Striking the Balance

Juan Or is one little boy who is fond of stacking objects 'as high as the KL Tower' just to test the balance and perhaps stability. If it crashes, then he will start stacking all over again to reach the maximum point where the 'tower' will be as high as possible, yet won't tumble down.

This was his creation yesterday. Actually, the four bottom most containers (actually are containers for playdough) were originally stacked by Papa. Then upon seeing the opportunity, Juan Or started stacking more things  - adding one more playdough container and a kettle. But don' be deceived by the kettle. The kettle was not merely an empty kettle, it contained many magnetic alphabets inside. He carefully inserted the magnetic alphabets one by one into the already stacked kettle. ^_^ By the way, Juan Or is a big boy already. He seems to know how to pose for the camera these days, and with his trademark cheeky smile too! ^_^

This is the full set of his 'Toyland creation'. He is fond of arranging his whatever odds-and-end toys, including objects that he salvaged from the kitchen (like the Fruit Tree empty bottle and microwaveable plastic container), onto the tea table. If Mommy attempts to move or take away any of these from his 'creation', he will appear slightly agitated and wants to grab it back from Mommy!
